Time: Evening
Type: Restaurant
Where: Largo Mall, Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL
Party: 1 male and 1 female
Immediate Impression:
Eh! Looks like your standard big box restaurant, and it was completely empty -Never a good sign.
Service:
Christina was sweet and prompt! She was very helpful with the menu and the selections. All food was brought quickly and the dishes taken away fast.
Menu/Food:
Very Americanized Mexican food. The menu was not well thought out - besides the multitude of typos and misspellings, they tried to give definitions for the food, but failed miserably.
Instead of bread, you get nachos and salsa. The nachos were very similar to Chili's but the Salsa was fantastic. Sweet with a hint of hot in the finish. I didn't have to add any hot sauce. I wish I could say the same about my meal.
I ordered the Chicken Burrito, Enchilada, Tamale combination. The Tamale was okay, but tiny; There was absolutely no difference between the enchilada and the burrito except for the size. I was not happy, and I was still hungry when I was done clearing my plate.
My guest has the Beef Chalupa, Enchilada, Taco combo; he didn't touch the Chalupa because the guacamole was overwhelming, but he enjoyed the taco, and agreed the enchilada was pretty bland.
We did like the all day 2 for 1 happy hour; my guest had the house margarita - which was very tasty, and I had the house wine - good for the price.
The best part of our meal was the dessert, although they could have let it thaw longer. Our Fried Cheesecake with Vanilla Ice Cream was delicious and perfect for two people.
Price:
The a la carte pricing is reasonable, but the combos aren't worth it. The drink prices are very reasonable and are the desserts and salads.
Final thought:
We both agreed this would be a great place to come with friends, order a few pitchers of margaritas and have nachos/salsa and some a la carte Tacos and watch a game or just hang out. Other than that, there is better Mexican food!
