Date: 01/06/09
Time: Evening
Type: Bar - Beer/Wine Only
Where: 300 State St. E. #107, Oldsmar, FL 34677
Party: Group (16pp)
Immediate Impression:
Quaint, cozy, comfortable and relaxing. Felt like the kind of place you go as a stranger leave as a friend. There is only one main room, a few tables and a few bar stools. Definitely not for a big noise crowd, but a great place for a small group who wants to actually talk to one another. Its a great FIRST DATE place, unless you aren't comfortable with micro brewed beer choices!
Service:
Wonderful! The staff is very educated in the nuances of the various different beer types; even so much as to give geographically insight into the differences. The staff was prepared to answer any questions, and willing to let us sample every beer to pick the one which best suited our palates. Which is quite a chore since we are all beer snobs!
Menu/Food:
This is not a food place; there menu is small (sandwiches, cheese/sausage platters) and it seems the staff really doesn't want you ordering off the food menu. However, they have a few menus of local restaurants which deliver. I ordered a pizza which was fantastic and filling.
There draft beer selection is great, but it changes constantly. So you may not have the same beer there from a previous time. The beers are from all over the world, ask your server what you are looking for and they will help you find something suitable.
Price:
Reasonable for the area, and in line with other specialty beer bars.
Final thought:
if you are use to $5 buckets of bud, I would say, this is not your place; but, if you like quality beer and enjoying a good pint with friends, this is definitely the place to go.
