Time: Late Morning
Type: Restaurant
Where: 401 Poydras Street,New Orleans, LA
Party: 2 Girls
Immediate Impression:
I am way to hungry to wait in that line...oh wait, there is another place around the corner..perfect. Um, okay, what do I do now...
Service:
Like a diner, not good, but good enough. But you don't go there for the service, you go to eat and the food speaks for itself.
Menu/Food:
I ordered the Combo platter with no Etouffee**(allergic - see my warning below), extra Jambalaya, collard greens and potato salad; guest ordered the Traditional Po'Boy. I was not impressed with the Red Beans and Rice - too bland for this latin girl, but the Jambalaya -OMG - I couldn't stop eating. The collard greens also...yummy yummy!
WARNING: if you are allergic to shellfish and order the combo with the changes above, and they bring out the plate with Etouffee on it, be warned. They only scraped the Etouffee off the plate and put the extra Jambalaya. Carry your allergy medicine with you in case of emergency!
Price:
Honestly, I found it REALLY expensive, but after eating, it was worth it. If you share it with others it becomes reasonable
Final thought:
This place is a must do! Food is plentiful and the atmosphere is interesting. I would highly recommend the Jambalaya and the Ham Po'Boy...can't say anything about the shellfish stuff.
